Anthony Collins, painting the world one instant at a time
One of the pillar artists of La Catedral Studios is painter Anthony Collins, who has been part of the Studios for twenty-six years. Before dedicating himself fully to painting, Anthony spent some time in Cyprus and a number of years in Beatlemania London, immersed in the art world: working with galleries, opening his own gallery in Bloomsbury with two friends, and participating in exhibitions around the globe. During this time, he cultivated a fascination for people’s interactions with art, collecting experiences that would later shape his own creative practice.
Lainey Castro: transforming materials, emotions, and stories
La Catedral Studios, Dublin — Inside La Catedral Studios, one of the artists shaping up the space with her emotions, instinct, and sensitivity is Lainey Castro. Born in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, and living in Ireland for the past nine years, Lainey carries with her an artistic allure informed by migration, curiosity, and a lifelong desire to express what she feels but cannot always speak. Her practice spans tattooing, visual art, and jewellery made from discarded materials, a set of disciplines connected by her belief in transformation, both artistic and personal.
Aarif Amod and the Art of Seeing People
Dublin, La Catedral Studios — Among the artists who shape the daily life of La Catedral Studios, Aarif Amod stands out as both a resident photographer and musician and a key support figure within the community. Raised between South Africa and Ireland, Aarif’s path has been marked by creativity, resilience, and a deep belief in the transformative power of art. His decisive shift from music to photography came in 2014, after a brain tumour diagnosis. What began as a means of healing soon became a vocation. Photography offered him a new way of seeing the world, and ultimately a form of recovery. It opened a space for reflection, purpose, and social engagement, teaching him that creativity can be a vital medicine.
"The Artists Eye Galaxy": A Collective Vision of La Catedral Studios
La Catedral Studios (LCS) transformed its façade into a cosmic celebration of artistic vision with "The Artists Eye Galaxy", a groundbreaking collaborative photographic conceptual installation by resident artist and photographer Fabio Grassi. The project captures the irises of the Studios’ whole creative community, each reimagined as a unique “galaxy” — a portal into the soul of the artists. At the center of the installation are the striking eyes of Ophelia, the Studios’ cat, serving as a playful and poetic focal point. Together, this visual “galaxy” forms a constellation that reflects both the individuality and the collective creative spirit of the LCS community.
