FAÇADE ARTINTERVENTIONS
The ongoing architectural art installations on the facade of La Catedral Studios offer the local community a window into the creative processes of our resident artists. These vibrant works breathe new life into the historic character of our building, adding color and energy to the surrounding streetscape.
One standout element is our planter box design, part of The Fingerprints, conceptualized by in-house artists Fionn Clissmann and Ana Carey, featuring stylized, enlarged fingerprints from a variety of studio artists.
Also, as part of our 2024 art intervention, we introduced a multicolored, solar-powered lighting installation that complements our artistic signage and expanding greenery project, bringing dynamic illumination to the building by night.
In 2025, we launched a new facade improvement focused on an unused panelled window above our entrance. In collaboration with in-house photographer Fabio Grassi, we co-created The Artists Eye Galaxy, a photographic installation featuring close-up portraits of our artists’ irises.
Mexican, Dublin-based artist Gabriela Joyce conceptualized and designed the black and white logo on the entrance door, transforming it into a distinctive visual marker of the Studios, in dialogue with the building’s facade.
We aim to give the local community a sense of the creative energy that lives within our walls by transforming the exterior of our building into a reflection of the artistic work happening inside. While La Catedral Studios is a private space and not typically open to the public, our evolving facade and series of architectural interventions serve as a public-facing canvas, offering a continuous, multimedia experience for all to enjoy, day or night.
INDOOR ART INTERVENTIONS
La Catedral Studios also fosters the creation of indoor art interventions done by in-house and visiting artists. This is art designed specifically to interact with the existing structure of the building.
Studios’ co-founder Antonella Scanu co-created a series of narrative collage works on wooden panels - each telling a unique story, each part of a larger vision. Her work and vision anchor the building’s character and atmosphere through her Vaudevile-inspired panels, which are complemented by other contributions from various artists throughout the building.
