The Artists Eye Galaxy is a photographic conceptual installation by resident artist Fabio Grassi in collaboration with La Catedral Studios, transforming its façade into a cosmic celebration of artistic vision. The project captures the irises of the Studios’ creative community, each reimagined as a unique “galaxy”, a portal into the individual and collective spirit of the artists. At the centre of the work are the eyes of Ophelia, the Studios’ cat, a playful and poetic focal point anchoring the visual constellation.

Conceived and realised as part of La Catedral Studios’ architectural installation programme, The Artists Eye Galaxy turns the building itself into a living artwork, inviting the public to engage with a façade that reflects both individual identities and the shared ethos of the LCS community. Each iris becomes a fragment of a larger narrative, a cosmic metaphor for the interplay between personal perception and collective creativity.

Fabio Grassi, a multidisciplinary visual storyteller and resident at La Catedral Studios since 2023, has developed a practice focused on human identity, perception, and introspection. His long-term work, including the book Gracing Freedom: Lyrical Portraits in Search of Authenticity, explores the interplay between light and shadow, self-reflection, and human connection. With The Artists Eye Galaxy, Grassi extends this approach to a collective scale, transforming intimate personal details into a constellation of shared creative experience.

Through this installation, La Catedral Studios continues its commitment to fostering dialogue between artists, their work, and the local community. The project embodies the studio’s mission to make creativity visible, accessible, and interwoven with the cultural life of Dublin 8.

This façade enhancement and art installation has been partially supported by the Shopfront Improvement Scheme, in partnership with DCC The Liberties Business Forum.
