PJ Lynch
PJ is a Dublin-based artist and illustrator. Folklore and other traditional stories, legends, and fairytales are common themes in his work. Aside from illustrating, PJ also lectures and holds workshops at galleries, conferences, events, and colleges.
PJ primarily uses watercolor and gouache, resulting in colorful, detailed, and realistic images. Some of his most notable illustrations for children’s books include: The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, When Jessie Came Across the Sea, Grandad’s Prayers of the Earth, and Mysterious Traveller.
P.J. Lynch has worked as a Children’s Book Illustrator since leaving Brighton College of Art in England in 1984. He has won many awards including the Mother Goose Award, the Christopher Medal three times, and the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal on two occasions. P.J. was the fourth Laureate na nÓg, Ireland’s laureate for children’s literature, from 2016 – 2018.
