Matthew Cave

Originally from Guernsey, Matthew Cave lives and works in Dublin. He graduated from DIT Portland Row in 1998 with a degree in Fine Art (Painting).

Working predominantly with oil paints and oil pastels, his pictures are influenced by the urban environment. He employs photography, sketches and memory as source, each lending its own way of seeing the world. Matthew also continues to add to a growing body of self portraits, some of which display a strong narrative whilst others record a moment in time.

He believes that painting is still the best, most multi faceted, sophisticated and most human visual art form to bear witness to our existence in this world.
