Cian Ryan
Cian Ryan is an Artist, Writer, Poet and Filmmaker working out of La Cathedral Art Studio. Recently, for the past two years, he was living in Canada where he worked in various fields in film, broadcast television and other industries. He also delved in the local art community there as a poet reading his work on the local radio, as an Art Teacher and running a successful Life Drawing group (@muse.iikki on Instagram). Having now moved back to Ireland, he has been working on turning his works into graphic novel short stories to eventually produce full works in his style, with pictorial accompaniments to his writing and poetry. His artist inspirations include Ralph Steadman, Alan Aldridge, Carvaggio, Jim Fitzpatrick, Maud Lewis and comic artists Tim Sale, Eduardo Risso and Greg Capullo. He mainly works with Pencil, Watercolour, Ink and Graphite, with a style akin to the works of graphic art. In the near future, he is intending to record his process of creating his work live to document the process and publish online. He also seeks to get back into filming narrative projects, as has made short films in the past and is hoping to blend his various disciplines into a cohesive project again.
