4.D Space presents

Samhain – An evening of live performances curated by Tara Carroll and Aine O’ Hara.

Samhain is the ancient celtic festival that marked the end of summer, leaving the light and entering the dark. Rituals were the foundation of the festival. At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through. The family ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm.

We don’t ask artists to strictly follow the theme/title but to keep the key elements of Samhain in mine such as ritual, disguise, past, reflection and the other. Many are the basis of the medium performance art itself.

We invite your proposals for ‘Samhain’. We are looking for performances ideally no longer than 15 minutes duration however; please contact us if you have a specific idea for a durational performance that relates well with our title/theme. Submissions should include a short biog. of the artist, their website/blogs, images of previous work and an outline of the proposed performance.

Proposal deadline is due Friday 23rd October.

The event will take place on the 28th October in The Back Loft, St. Augustine Street.
