La Catedral Studios is a quirky creative sociable hub of Dublin based artists working in all sorts of media ranging from visual art, mixed-media, sculpture, fashion design, photography and craft, to name a few.
LCS aim to provide its resident artists with a supportive and stimulating environment in which socializing, art-making, cross fertilization and the creative process are as important as the finished work itself.
LCS encompass 37 studios for artists and is an independent, autonomous, totally self-funded venture under the current management of Antonella Scanu. LCS was established in 2005 by Sardinian co-founders Antonella Scanu & Costantino Idini who had been previously providing artist spaces in Dublin since 1997 in DIY converted unconventional buildings such as military barracks, mills and soap factories. In keeping with the architectural character of the previous studio buildings, LCS building was a former clothing factory for the Saint Bernard/Dunnes stores’s brand. The studios are based in a charming red-brick Victorian warehouse in the heart of the Liberties, conveniently located round the corner from NCAD and many more artistic amenities.
The studios offer 24 hr/7 day access, free wi-fi & heating, visibility and features on the studios’ web-site to all its studios members.
