Kamille is an oil painter, originally from Davie, Florida, but has been living in Dublin, Ireland for the past four years. She is currently working out of La Catedral Art Studios in Dublin city centre. Kamille likes to explore the juxtaposition of an expected familiar world with unique components that add an element of surprise to the viewer. This is often achieved by use of unique color and linework in her paintings. Kamille gained her foundational art skills during High School with a variety of AP art classes that were offered, that would allow her to excel in painting a few years later. Once she moved to Dublin in 2020, Kamille began exploring oil paint, a medium she had no previous experience with. Since 2020 Kamille has flourished in discovering what intrigues her and how this merged with her unique style of colourful realism. Kamille began applying to opportunities in late 2022, and she has had the opportunity of showing in over 9 exhibitions for both photography and paintings. Most notably one of her paintings was accepted into the Royal Hibernian Academy Open Call 2023Exhibition, one of the most highly-recognised art spaces in Ireland.

Art Statement:

My oil paintings explore the world that exists and add an element of “other worldly” to the mundane. My use of bright colors and often intricate experimental linework adds a unique perspective to the painting for the viewer to experience. In my works I explore the theme of the connection between a human and the world around them. I use a mix of realism and fantasy elements to make these ideas come to life. When I create art my goal is to help people escape and see a new perspective on what is expected.

An important part of my painting process is creating a conceptual plan of my painting vision. These concepts are often inspired by the early 1900s, which I try to bring forward with what the subject is wearing or the space around them. From there I work to find a model, makeup, styling, and location to match my vision. Using my Canon Ae-1 analog camera I take the photos that bring my ideas to life. Once photos are developed I use photo editing platforms to add unique elements to complete my painting reference. I often start with a fluorescent acrylic base, and build on top with oils.
