Maria Baez is an illustrator, animator and singer living and working in Dublin 8. She completed her BA in Fine Art in Madrid, and her MA in Animation and Digital Illustration at Trazos, Madrid. She has lived in Dublin 8 for six years continuously working on trying to capture the idiosyncrasies of the locality through a variety of media, including screen printing, hand drawings, digital illustration and risography.

For Maria, places are made up of people, and the small details that define how they live in specific locales and specific times. She is fascinated by the intersections that occur between culture and place. She presently has a studio space in La Catedral studios and working alongside artists including Ishmael Claxton and Dr Jye O’Sullivan. She is engaged in a couple upcoming exhibitions that examine The Liberties and the people who make it what it is.

You will also find Maria’s work located around Dublin 8, with her completing commissions for Dudley’s and The Bite of Life which address the communities that define these environments.

You can also catch Maria on stage singing a range of styles, from jazz and bossa nova to neo-soul in venues including Arthur’s, The International and the The Music Cafe.
